Global Education Program

A major part of the Beautiful Day Foundation’s (BDF) mission is to educate young women 45 years old and under about breast cancer through our Educational Program. BDF’s Health Educators are registered nurses who raise breast cancer awareness and educate young women on breast cancer risk factors, how to lower one’s risk and properly perform a breast self-exam.

Ways We Educate

Health Fairs
At health fairs, BDF hosts an interactive booth where visitors can sign up to join our email family, spin our Prize wheel to win BDF merchandise and learn more about the importance of breast health. Health educators provide informative printed guides on how to properly perform a breast self-exam with the aid of our breast self-exam torso (which has “tumors” of varying sizes and depth) providing a sensory experience for students to examine and learn what a potentially abnormal and harmful lump feels like.

Guest Speaking at sorority and women’s organizations
As a guest speaker, the health educator gives a power point presentation to her audience regarding breast cancer, its risk factors, ways to lower one’s risk, and how to properly perform a breast self-exam. These presentations range from twenty to sixty minutes depending on the time allotted.

Community Events
In addition to BDF’s strong presence at colleges and universities across Southern California, the Organization has also steadily participated in community events such as the Susan G. Komen’s Race for the Cure in Newport Beach. At these events, BDF is able to reach out to tens of thousands of women, raising breast cancer awareness.
